CHENNAI: Walk into the Besant Nagar post office in Shastri Nagar on a Friday morning around 10, and you will find a queue of at least seven people in front of the postage and savings bank counters. Look closely and you will see a longer queue in front of the e-post and e-bill counters.
Data shows that this is a growing trend in the 12,185 post offices in the Tamil Nadu region, which includes Puducherry, after India Post decided to embrace internet mailing and e-banking system

NSE starts financial literacy initiative with India Post

Patiala, Jun 13 (PTI) The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has started a financial literacy initiative in partnership with India Post, to take the equity cult to small towns and cities of India. As a part of the agreement, NSE is putting up large-sized screens at more than 50 post offices in the country, including one at Patiala head post office. The screens will carry messages from both NSE and India Post, to increase awareness in people on safe investing and investor friendly products, to empower them financially. The screen at the Patiala head post office was inaugurated by senior officials from NSE and India post. "We have constantly been trying to reach out to the tier two and tier three cities, to bring more people into the formal financial system," NSE Joint Managing Director Chitra Ramkrishna said. "Patiala is an important industrial hub and is home to many reputed educational institutions. We hope this financial literacy initiative will help people to realise their dreams," Ramkrishna added. This initiative will lend a tremendous help to numerous traders engaged in stock market, B C Sharma, senior superintendent, India Post Office, Patiala, said. The screen will carry information on the prices of Nifty stocks and different NSE indices, Sharma said adding that it will also convey information on other products. It will also carry information on products of India Post, like Online money transfers, Electronic money orders, Speed post, Savings certificates, Postal life insurance and logistics solutions for Corporates, he said.  courtesy-----PTI | 08:06 PM,Jun 13,2012

EXPECTED DA FROM JULY 2012 MAY BE 7% AGAIN

Subject to AICIN data for the next two months remaining in the current level, the following assumption is being made.
The AICPIN data for April 12 has been recently published. It rises to 4 points and reached 205. We know that D.A. is calculated on the basis for 12 months average. To calculate the D.A. payable from 1st July 2012, we need the figures of May and June 2012 which are to be released on 30.06.12 and 31.07.12 respectively. If the data remains for the next two months in the same level, i.e. 205, the hike will be 7%. Even if it marginally drops 1 point in any of the months, the rise will be still 7% which will take the total D.A. to 72%.
Considering the latest hike in petrol price, it is unlikely that the index may drop in the next months. So we can guess the next D.A. hike @7%, revising our previous guess work.
