Rice Sowing Picks up; Sown in 144.59 Lakh Hectare so Far

According to the latest information received from States, rice has been sown in 144.59 lakh hectare, as compared to 96.79 lakh ha a week back. It is, however, lower by 16.68 lakh ha than 161.27 l ha at this time last year.

Sugarcane has been sown in 52.81 l ha, which is 2.02 l ha more than the area covered by sugarcane this time last year.

             The cropped areas of major kharif crops as on today as compared to those last week and this time last year are as follows:
